An autobiographical streak runs through Brawlers’ sound – from the brisk story-telling of Annabel to the girl-chasing bounce of Two Minutes and the drunken bar room chant of the album’s title track, hearts are very much being held up to your face, with the bloody viscera dripping all down your front.
Tussk – Par T Animal
Good people, you’re in for a treat come April 11. Staffordshire’s Tussk, release their new EP, Part T Animal and it’s going to kick your arse. Founded back in 2010 (thanks Facebook), this five-piece of beards, tattoos and beer-hair bridge that gap between swaggering, southern rock, throaty, guttural hardcore all packed beneath a wall of meaty riffs and thundering drumbeats.
Brawlers – I Am A Worthless Piece Of Shit
It’s scary how some things enter your consciousness so quickly. After only 2 playthroughs, the superbly titled I Am A Worthless Piece Of Shit has set up a permanent shop inside my head and is proving difficult to budge. Not that you’d want to, because this is fucking brilliant; from the jerking pop-rock of Mothers and Fathers to the anthemic rant-a-thon of the EP title track, this is an absolute blast from start to finish.
