Ampwrecked 14: New Music For Your Ears

Death From Above keep up with the wrestling theme. Propagandhi invite us for a drink. The Bronx go rock ‘n roll. Unsane cover everything in blood. METZ destroy our ears through a mess of wires. And So I Watch You From Afar show off their new wings and Converge go completely brutal.

Mutoid Man – War Moans

Opening track Melt Your Mind couldn’t be more aptly titled – it’s a shred of riotous, unhinged energy that bubbles, bursts and roars. In just over 2 minutes, it’s slams home a vibrant blast of melodic metallic punk leaving your jaw on the floor. This is swiftly followed by the drum-happy clatter of Bone Chain, which sounds like Van Halen writing a pop song for Kvelertak.

Art of Burning Water / Harrowed – Split

Art of Burning Water and Harrowed serve up a treat in the form of their brand of blackened-metal grind and sludge-hardcore noise. Another solid release from Super Fi Records, who seem to constantly churn out the very best in underground metallic-noise chaos.

Mutoid Man – Bleeder

Well, if this doesn’t punch a wet, viscera-coated hole through your chest, I don’t know what will. Mutoid Man are Stephen Brodsky, Ben Koller and Nick Cageao. You’ll be familiar with Brodsky – him of Cave In fame, making huge crushing space rock jams (Big Riff!), Koller briefly drummed for Cave In before becoming the stickman for noise-hardcore thrash-merchants Converge.
