On the strength of Silent Running, the third album from Watertank, you might just discover a band you’ve been waiting for all these years.
Sofy Major – Total Dump
It’s great when a band doesn’t take themselves seriously. France’s Sofy Major don’t really fit into the noise rock template – they’re more likely to flush it down the toilet than conform, which is refreshingly brilliant.
Ils – Pain Don’t Hurt
Ils (pronounced “ilz”) are a four piece from Portland, signed to French label Pogo Records and Pain Don’t Hurt is their first EP and it’s an ugly and disturbing racket.
Stuntman / Art of Burning Water – Split EP
Those good people at SuperFi Records have delivered more goods in the form of a new split EP featuring the delights of Stuntman and Art of Burning Water.
Tölva – Wide Shot
France’s Tölva can provide that much needed detachment with their debut EP, Wide Shot. For the most part, Tölva’s post rock seems fairly ordinary, non-threatening and fragile, much like the jellyfish that graces the cover of this EP.
Ultra Panda – Satan, Salsa
Ultra Panda are a French three piece consisting of drums, bass, keys and vocals and straddle that weird, swinging bridge between frantic dance-punk, noise-rock and electronic savagery and manage to create some incredibly tight and infectious sounds with such a swirling mixing pot.
