Lizard Hips’ Top 10 Albums of 2015

Another bloody year. It looks like end of year lists are being rattled out now, so best to jump on that bandwagon and rank a load of records I’ve listened to in some sort of order of preference. In all seriousness, it’s been another fantastic year – some proper agonising decisions about what to keep in and what to leave out. It hasn’t been easy let me tell you. Read on….

METZ – II

The kind of punishment drummer Hayden Menzies inflicts on his poor kit makes you wonder if he’s got some boiling hatred burning inside for his particular piece of percussion. You see, on METZ’s first album, cunningly titled METZ, he is the frontman of the band – or rather, his drum kit is – thumping out a barbaric and unrelenting cacophony from start to finish.

Black Years – Black Years II

There’s something incredibly engaging about Black Years, stretched over the three tracks on offer on this 7″ EP – they’re not afraid to mix up their sound, catering for all on this brief, yet memorable slab of punk rock wax.
