2013 will soon be done, but again, it’s been ridiculously brilliant year for new releases, new bands, new discoveries and long-awaited comebacks. So, before getting ruined on homebrew, eating mince pies and shouting at the TV because the BBC haven’t played Jurassic Park yet, here’s a run down of my top 10 albums of 2013.
Megachurch – Megachurch 2: Judgment Day
Megachurch’s unique brand of raucous, crunching rock is deeply unnerving, chaotic and hilarious in equal measure, as is their delightful album artwork. Yes, what I want to see is a bespectacled man wielding a fiery sword in one hand, a bible in the other, riding a massive dragon as pink hot lava bursts forth from a blue volcano, swamping the landscape.
Rock Sound CD 100% Volume: 172
Great selection of tracks this month. Kvelertak return, also Megachurch are my new favourite band, plus Lost Society are comedy gold, Turbogeist – true punx and Fights and Fires, Next Stop Atlanta, Eager Teeth and Coastline all completely boss. BEERS TO YOU GUYS!
