No Spill Blood – Heavy Electricity

If heavy electricity falls from these headphones, not only would it blow my head off, it would cut me completely in half. The horror film hasn’t been made that Heavy Electricity could soundtrack, but it’s only a matter of time, as this, their first full-length, is truly the stuff of nightmares.

HEADS. – S/T

It’s no surprise to learn that HEADS. will be going on tour with METZ in June and any other bands who like writing their name in capitals only. HEADS. are 1 Australian and 2 Germans making stripped-to-the-bare-bones noise rock that in places, gives a nod to that 90s grunge sound, alongside a gnawing, low-end scrape of disgruntled darkness.

Ex Wives/MADEINCANADA – Split 10″

No stranger to these ears – Glasgow merchants of hate Ex Wives are back, frothing at the mouth like Cujo with a broken baseball bat buried in his head. Horror dressed up as music – that’s MADEINCANADA. Hailing from Paris, this noise-rock trio are just as, if not nastier than Ex Wives. It’s as if both bands are trying to be the out-do each other in being foul, depraved purveyors of gnawing, blood-spitting derision.

Girl Band – De Bom Bom 7″

The opening guitar-scrape on De Bom Bom is a crackling, guttural distort and feels more in common with the industrial pound and stuttering electronica of Black Dice or the bonkers psychosis of The Assdroids.

Beige Eagle Boys – You’re Gonna Get Yours

Want to experience a descent into a maelstrom of howling, spitting pandemonium? Listen to Detroit’s Beige Eagle Boys and their debut album, the brilliantly titled You’re Gonna Get Yours and get ready to inhale their warped sense of disarray and fervent lunacy that’s present over these 25 minutes of intoxicated bedlam.

The Austerity Program – Beyond Calculation

New York’s The Austerity Program are the audio equivalent of Mr Wrench and Mr Numbers sent to ‘take care of things’. Absolute evil if there ever was? Quite possibly. Beyond Calculation, the newest album from guitarist Justin Foley, bassist Thad Callabrese and a drum machine is a razor-sharp offering seething punk rock

Girl Band – Lawman 7″

Hey everyone, Girl Band are back! Remember France 98, the great mini-album/EP thing they released at the beginning of last year? Well, they’ve only gone and recorded another song! Whatever the fuck is going on during Lawman, I have no clue, but Girl Band know and that malevolent, curled-lip sneer that is present during the full 6 minutes and 13 seconds of this unique sound could strip paint.

Hawk Eyes – That’s What This Is

With a successful Pledge campaign under their belts, the 4-tracker, entitled That’s What This Is, is now available to purchase for those who missed it the first time. One thing to note straight away, is how Hawk Eyes have finally staked into the ground the notion of an infectious chorus. All 4 tracks on offer here are very different, yet retain a distinct ear-worm like quality.

The Bridges of Madison County – Beastenders

Formed as a possible outlet for collective weirdness, The Bridges of Madison County clearly don’t take themselves or their music seriously, which makes them even more intriguing. Beastenders is an unsettling listening experience…
