Ampwrecked 15: New music for your ears
As The Bronx famously said, “New Year, New Me…” let’s kick things off by looking at the upcoming tracks, singles and random noises that are being kicked around at the moment as we stage dive headfirst into the devil that is 2018 – see you in the pit, bring your shinpads, a packet of biscuits, thermos flask and your all Rush mixtape.

Lizard Hips – Top 10 albums of 2017
My top 2 will not surprise some people and it’s mostly business as usual. Some returning bands and truly outstanding work all round from nearly everyone that’s released an album this year that I’ve enjoyed. Even albums that didn’t make the top ten (sorry Pissed Jeans, you’re in at 11…) were stonking great. Enjoy.
The Bronx – V
If one photo summed up The Bronx, it’s in underlay card on this, their fifth album. Death From Above keep up with the wrestling theme. Propagandhi invite us for a drink. The Bronx go rock ‘n roll. Unsane cover everything in blood. METZ destroy our ears through a mess of wires. And So I Watch You From Afar show off their new wings and Converge go completely brutal.
En Garde – Weekenders
En Garde are a punk rock band channelling the exquisite berserk rage of Gallows, mixed with the hardcore fury of Blowgoat (RIP) and the scathing bile of Golden Tanks. The raw, untamed energy that pulsates from Weekenders is breathless and infectious in equal measure.
Sonisphere 2014 – Sunday 6 July
After a surprisingly wonderful night’s sleep (seven hours? Uninterrupted? I’ll take that.) thanks to a combination of being a) very drunk the night before and b) ear plugs, Sunday treated us to Cadillac Three, who are much more soothing on the eardrums; letting those far too hungover to ease into the day’s musical festivities.
